Motif, use, and evidence-aware explanation of meaning
Verified context
UNESCO explains that Chinese paper-cut motifs vary with region and purpose and may be used on windows, beds, and ceilings, as well as for weddings, birthdays, ceremonies, and forms of prayer.
Cultural boundary
Fish, flowers, the character fú, and zodiac animals are observation prompts, not entries in one nationally fixed symbolism dictionary. Explanations should separate sourced use, local interpretation, and the learner's own visual association.
Evidence-aware practice
Choose one motif and write three separate columns: what I see, what the source supports, and what I associate with it, without allowing one column to substitute for another.
